7 Hour Operation Brings Relief: Wild Elephant Driven Out of Kanjikode Residential Area
For the past two weeks, the usually peaceful town of Kanjikode in Kerala has been on edge. A wild elephant had wandered into a densely populated residential area, causing concern and anxiety among the local residents. The presence of the elephant not only disrupted daily life but also posed a significant threat to both people and property.
The elephant, believed to have strayed from the nearby forests, had made itself at home in the outskirts of Kanjikode. Despite several attempts by the forest department and local authorities to guide it back to its natural habitat, the animal remained elusive, often retreating deeper into residential pockets whenever approached. Residents lived in constant fear, with many avoiding venturing out after dark. The elephant, in search of food and water, had damaged crops, fences, and even a few vehicles.
