Palakkad to Gudalur Made Easy: KSRTC Launches Direct Bus Route
A new direct KSRTC bus service connecting Palakkad to Gudalur has been launched, addressing a long-standing demand from passengers for easier and quicker travel between these two regions. The daily service, inaugurated by Palakkad MLA Rahul Mangoottathil, departs from Palakkad depot at 7:45 AM and travels via Mannarkad, Vazhikadavu, and Nilambur, reaching Gudalur by 12:20 PM. The return journey starts at 1:30 PM from Gudalur and arrives back in Palakkad by 6:05 PM. This route significantly simplifies the journey compared to previous options that involved multiple transfers and longer travel times.
The launch of this bus service is part of KSRTC’s efforts to enhance inter-state connectivity, benefiting commuters, traders, and tourists alike by improving access between Kerala and the border areas of Tamil Nadu. MLA Rahul Mangoottathil highlighted that the service was approved after his direct appeal to the Transport Minister, reflecting persistent public demand. Local transport officials and union leaders participated in the inauguration, demonstrating strong administrative support.
This new service reduces the total journey time and removes the need for changing buses at several points, which has historically taken over 8 to 9 hours with transfers. The direct service runs daily, offering a reliable and convenient option for people traveling for work, education, or leisure, thus fostering better social and economic ties between the regions. Further expansions of inter-state services by KSRTC are also planned to enhance connectivity in the future. This development is a significant step toward making regional travel more accessible and efficient for residents and visitors in the Palakkad-Gudalur corridor.
