Siblings from Elappally Achieve Rare Feat with IIT Admissions

Hima and Sreeharsh, siblings from Elappally, Palakkad, have achieved a rare feat by securing admission to prestigious IITs in 2025. Hima will pursue MTech in Transport Systems at IIT Roorkee, while Sreeharsh is joining the MA Development Studies program at IIT Guwahati. They are the children of K Shasikumar, who runs an Amul outlet in Sulthanpet, and V Sujatha, a tradeswoman at Palakkad Government Polytechnic College. Both have excelled in academics and extracurriculars from a young age. Sreeharsh, a BA Social Sciences (Economics) graduate from TISS, Maharashtra, studied at PMG School, Palakkad. Hima, a graduate in Architecture from Delhi, did her higher secondary at Placid Vidyapeed, Changanassery.

The siblings are also skilled Kalaripayattu practitioners. Sreeharsh has won multiple medals at junior and sub junior levels, including a bronze at the Khelo India Youth Games in Chandigarh. Hima is a five time district level Kalaripayattu champion and a talented keyboard player. Their story reflects perseverance, family support, and the ability to balance academics with other passions making them inspiring role models for young Malayalis.
