Heavy Rains and Strong Winds Disrupt Train Services in Palakkad Division

On May 28, 2025, the Palakkad railway division faced significant disruptions as heavy rains and strong winds swept across the region, causing trees to fall onto railway tracks and leading to widespread train delays.

Early in the morning, severe weather battered several parts of Palakkad and neighboring districts. The intense downpour, accompanied by gusty winds, uprooted trees and scattered debris across key railway routes. As a result, approximately 19 trains, including the high-profile Thiruvananthapuram Central – Mangaluru Central Vande Bharat Express, were delayed for varying durations.

Fortunately, no train services were canceled. Railway officials acted swiftly, deploying emergency response teams to clear the fallen trees and restore normalcy to the affected routes. Passengers, though inconvenienced by the delays, were kept informed about the situation through station announcements and digital updates.

The quick response by railway workers deserves special mention. Armed with chainsaws and heavy equipment, teams worked tirelessly in challenging weather conditions to remove obstructions from the tracks. Their coordinated efforts ensured that the delays were minimized and that safety was not compromised at any point.

While delays are always an inconvenience, most passengers expressed relief that safety was prioritized and that no trains were canceled. Many commuters took to social media to share updates and express appreciation for the railway staff’s dedication.
